Day 9 Rapturous Love

I am a willing slave to love. I cannot escape it, nor do I want to.

It seems so ironic that He can live inside of me and yet my heart burns with a consuming passion for more. As I open my eyes to start the day, He is there. I sit quietly on my couch engaging with Heaven through worship music and exchanging words of love with the Lord. He is so glorious. The more I focus on Him, the more I sense Him drawing me closer

Light. Swirling light, in and around me today, rippling through the house like foggy beams of white glory. Feeling the literal pull of heaven on my heart today. My desire is to remain in this awesome awareness of His love and communion with me, while I clean and homeschool. Living in the place of veracious love is the place of continual bliss that I so crave.

I'll leave you with the words of Theresa of Avila...

"It left me utterly consumed by the great love of God. The pain was so severe that it made me utter several groans. The sweetness caused by this intense pain is so extreme that one cannot possibly wish it to cease. Nor is one's soul then content with anything but God. This is not a physical but a spiritual pain, though the body has some share in it. So gently is this wooing between God and the soul, that if anyone thinks I am lying I pray God in his grace to grant him some experience of it.

Throughout the days that this lasted I went about in a kind of stupor. I had no wish to look or to speak, only to embrace my pain which was a greater bliss than all created things could give me. On several occasions when I was in this state the Lord was pleased that I should experience raptures so deep that I could not resist them even though I was not alone."
- St Theresa of Avila

Making Peace with Catholicism...and Other Religions

I remember it clearly - watching a reel-to-reel movie in Sister Patricia's second grade class. Although I don't remember why the girl in the movie was crying, I do remember the affect it had on me. My heart was gripped by the fact that I wanted to know God more. The church was close to our home and I liked to hangout there, hoping to find God. One of the priests found it so odd, he phoned my Mom to let her know I couldn't be there everyday. Guess I looked a bit like a 7 yr. old hoodlum with my pigtails and missing teeth. In the eighteen years I grew up in Catholicism, no one ever taught me the deep spiritual truths of knowing God. All I knew was to attend mass, say my prayers, and take communion. And I did - until I visited a "non-denominational" church and felt God's presence for the first time. I was wrecked - in a good & bad way. Not only did I find what I had been looking for, I also became judgmental towards the Catholic religion. They had le...

Reigniting Your Destiny/Letting Go of the Past

Over and over again I've been hearing stories from people who are going after their dreams. Some are young and filled with a zeal for life that has met little resistance. I like hanging around young people, because it reminds me of what it is like to run after life with untamed passion. Others who have felt the excitement of life wane over the years, have recently met with the God who awakens dormant desires. They are taking giant leaps of faith to run after their dreams once again, regardless of cost. Living life with passion is always the right choice. My heart has been stirred to encourage you today! Many of you have been contemplating what it would be like to take a risk and go after your dreams - some for the first time, and others with renewed hope. Let me speak to those who believe that they are past their prime in life, and whatever goals and dreams they once had, are long gone. Stop believing the lie that life has crippled you! Life hasn't crippled you, it has...

Words That Flow Like Honey (Day 31)

We love the Lord's presence, we desire to see Him (John 14:21), touch Him (John 20:27), eat with Him (Rev 3:20) and be besides ourselves in the rapturous bliss of His presence (2 Cor 5:13-14). We are those with burning hearts; those who desire to remain in the awareness of God's presence at all times. When we have set apart times with the Lord, we close our eyes and turn our gaze upon Him and allow ourselves to be immersed by His love and glory. But as we seek Him, let's remember something very important. Regardless of our great need for His love, let's remember to take our eyes off of ourselves and our need and bring Him our love . Honor Him as King, Savior and Friend. Bring not just your heart to Him, but words with you, speaking forth His greatness, beauty, righteousness, faithfulness, etc.  Let words of love flow from your lips, not just so you can sense His presence, but because He is deserving of your adoration.  His presence will come as w...
